Not Her Birthday

by GfG on August 31, 2010

Today may or may not be Cutie Pie’s birthday.

If you ask her, she’ll tell you it’s not.  If you look at her birth certificate, it’ll tell you it is.

Gratefully, Cutie Pie has no idea where her birth certificate is (joining the ranks of her parents) and doesn’t pay attention to calendars.  Sure, she’s in kindergarten, but her kinder teacher decided to not use a calendar until after the beach trip.  Specifically so the only kinder student wouldn’t realize what day her birthday actually fell on this year.  Or last year.

Since, you know, we are pretending today is just a regular Tuesday.  Not her birthday.

It’s not her birthday because she wants to celebrate her birthday at the beach (again) and have volcano cake at the Rainforest Cafe.  Well, we don’t leave for the beach until next Tuesday, one week after her birthday.  We won’t celebrate it until a couple of days after that when her cousins arrive (which is better than last year’s delay by ten days, thankyouverymuch).   So… that all adds up to-

today is not her birthday.

But if it was, she would be five and her mother would be weepy and sappy and emotional and sentimental.

So, you know, it’s really good for everyone that today is not her birthday.

She is sure stinkin’ cute for a girl not turning five today.

LOL, I remember last year’s “not her birthday” too. So funny.

Mine have all done “Not my birthday” because they refuse to get older, not because they want to have their birthday at a special place. I like your way better.

Happy (not) Birthday to Cutie Pie! How did I not realize when we met that she is only a few months younger than my Adventurer?

Thanks much for the kind words on my closet post. I so appreciate it. Ditto, too, for the note about my hubby ; ) He says “thanks” in a mumbled, embarrassed, “why did you post about me?” sort of way.

Enjoy next week’s beach trip and birthday celebration!

She indeed is one stinkin’ cute 5 (not really though) year old! I do have a question…since you can’t be weepy, sappy, emotional, and sentimental now then you can’t be in a couple of weeks either right? Because then we’ll just tell you “yeah Sis but she’s been 5 for a couple of weeks already!” ;0)
5 is a bit tough, for all of us…although I’ll go ahead and say (with the UTMOST LOVE AND RESPECT) that you are pretty weepy, sappy, emotional, and sentimental and pretty much ALL birthdays. ;0)
love ya!

Hahahaha. . . . One of the bonuses of the recent “struggles” in my life has been getting to spend time with this particular of your youngun’s. Her smile and imagination are KILLERS. So much fun. So thankful for her. So glad she can now pick me out of a lineup. Grin.
