Our friends and family have not always been excited about pregnancy news from us, even though we’ve been giddy when the LORD blesses my womb. After a disappointing reception to the news of our third pregnancy, we decided to send announcements for all subsequent pregnancies.
Let me explain why I think this is a great idea:
- You don’t put pressure on people to react positively immediately.
- You allow people time to process the news. This gives those who are not in the same mindset time to prepare for seeing you and being nice.
- You don’t expect a response from someone who doesn’t see this the same way you do. It’s really not fair.
- You keep your joy from being robbed.
- You have a cute keepsake.
Here are our precious announcements.
With Wee Babe, I actually had the doctor’s office request one. I hadn’t sent one out (or even created one yet) and they wanted to be sure I did, since I always sent them one. It cheered me every time I had an appointment to see our announcement tacked on the office wall.
I think sending fun pregnancy announcements is a win/win and am glad God put it on my heart to do it this way.
If you are growing your family and would like to celebrate without risking others stealing your joy, why not send a cute announcement in the mail?

Chuck and I always loved the announcements…and the news! I’m glad God put it on your heart as well.
As for me and my house…we discussed when we were pregnant with our first blessing how to announce. Phil reminded me, “Honey, simplicity, simplicity.” He knew I’d get all anxious about just the right way to “send” an announcement…making it, stamping it, addresses. In the end, we went with simple…word of mouth! When you’ve waited as long as we did for a baby…ain’t nobody gonna steal that joy!
I love it! I felt that the excitement wasn’t as “there” when we announced Zachary’s pregnancy despite how ecstatic we were. I am definitely doing it this way if we are blessed to have a next time
Super cute!! Great ideas!!
Adorable idea Mindy! If the E-Flo’s are ever get to the point where we are ready for a baby and then blessed with one, I would totally do this!
Have I mentioned how much I enjoy you calling yourselves the E-Flos? <3
What a fabulous idea! I remember when Noah was born, I asked Daniel how he liked being a big brother. He replied, “He looks just like me.”
I still have your announcement for #6 hanging on my fridge. =) I liked it so much I couldn’t get rid of it!
Love your announcements!! Very creative
I wish I’d done something like that with our third since the verbal announcement was met with less than stellar attitudes from Hubby’s side of the family. His sister even lectured me and complained about it on the phone to me for 30 minutes. Not only was Hubby very unhappy about the pregnancy, but he made me tell his family during a family supper when he was at work so he wouldn’t have to be there. Needless to say, it was a very difficult pregnancy, both physically and emotionally.
